Nara was the first capital of Japan back 1,300 years ago. The city’s historic temples and shrines are beautifully preserved, with 20 of them acknowledged as UNESCO World Heritage sites. The city is also famous for the tame herds of deer that roam freely through its streets.

The JW Marriott Hotel Nara just opened its doors back in July, being Marriott’s 800th property in Asia-Pacific and the first Western-style luxury hotel in the city (we covered this opening here). The hotel features 158 rooms including 16 luxurious suites featuring warm tones of timber, bronze and leather as found in the traditional homes of Nara.

Here’s official property photos and their description of their Presidential Suite:

Inspired by traditional Japanese houses in Nara, the Presidential Suite is colored in natural tones and decorated with simple yet elegant furniture, to provide the perfect space to rest and recharge with friends and family.

Here is our video review and commentary on this room:

Conclusion

This suite is impressive! The combination of soft and earth colors on walls and furniture with gold accents from the décor is very Japanese chic. The dining room can be used as a boardroom as it is separated from the living room. This is a great idea for this type of a suite.

If you ever plan to visit Nara (you should!) and think of checking this suite out, start praying to all the upgrade deities, as this suite don’t come cheap: price for next Saturday night is ¥809,400/$7,665!!!
